In the mid-1960s, ABC Radio began a half-hour drama series broadcast each weeknight. The stories ranged from comedy melodrama to the supernatural and science fiction. Actors and writers were different on each show. Some shows boasted actors such as James Earl Jones, Alan Alda, and Ed Begley. The name is derived from its time slot of 5pm each evening. Dark Appointment  

When one prospector clubs another for his water, the one left to die in the desert swears revenge. When he finally catches up… he finds a man twisted with remorse not even worth shooting.

 

Fog  

An alcoholic woman finds it difficult to shake her groggy morning fog, but another drink should clear her mind, or another pill, right? Then she realizes she gave her daughter sleeping pills instead of migraine medicine. That clears her mind fast. All a dream.

 

Goodbye, Matt  

Not horror. A man goes to so much trouble covering up his infidelity that he implicates himself. It’s fun watching him get what he deserves one layer at a time.

 

Homecoming  

(Margaret Hamilton) A widow wishes her husband back so hard he comes home. Then she remembers what the marriage was really like and changes her mind!

 

Incident at Shadow Valley  

A murderous trucker refuses to leave a diner though the owner’s granddaughter is dying. Bad things begin to happen to other patrons, too.

 

Lorna is a Strange Child  

A mysterious girl is not registered for school. When the teacher investigates, he discovers she is not like her folks. (She’s more like Marilyn Munster.)

 

Man Who Heard Everything, The  

A man discovers he can hear the thoughts of nearby people. What does he do? Blackmails his boss, of course! Then he tries to sell his skill to the Secret Service for espionage, but his powers grow too strong. They put him in an abandoned missile silo. Then some fool installed a phone!

 

Noose of Pearls  

(Margaret Hamilton) A story about a wicked, invalid aunt and a woman’s wasted life. She chooses money over a marriage proposal, and years later finds a string of pearls wasn’t worth the wait.

 

Terror from Beyond  

Hostile aliens ride electromagnetic waves from Deimos to Earth. They possess a scientist and try to take his brain back with them as intel’ to conquer Earth. Can another scientist overcome a brain wipe and warn the world? [Remake of Murder at Midnight: Terror Out of Space]
